SGBC Celebrates Georgia Peanut Bank Week

South Georgia Banking Company celebrates Georgia Peanut Bank Week by congratulating all Georgia Peanut Farmers for their outstanding peanut production.   Georgia leads the nation in peanut production and is proud to support the peanut industry and our local farmers.  In recognition of Georgia Peanut Bank Week (October 18-25), all SGBC locations will be giving away peanut snacks, displaying local artwork and serving refreshments for customers on Friday, October 24.  Print out this coloring page for the kids to color and return it to your local branch for them to display in the lobby.

New City President at South Georgia Banking Company

South Georgia Banking Company (SGBC) recently named Chuck Bannister as City President for the bank’s Moultrie location. Bannister, a Moultrie native, graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in management. He has been in the banking industry for 30 years and with SGBC for 14 years as a Senior Vice President.

As City President, Bannister will represent all facets of the bank in the Colquitt County area and continue his role working with commercial and consumer lending.  “The best part of being involved with a community bank like South Georgia Banking Company is knowing all decisions are made locally.  We know our customers and the community.  We know that what we do matters when a customer walks in the door,” said Bannister.  “I’m excited to take over the helm and look forward to growing the bank, right along with Colquitt County.”

A strong proponent of civic responsibility, Bannister has always been very involved in community activities.  Currently, he is chairman of the High School Council at Colquitt County High School, a Kiwanis Club member and member of First Presbyterian Church.  He is also a mentor to two children involved with the Mentor Program through the YMCA.  “I believe active community involvement is important.  It makes a real difference and there is always something for someone to be involved in,” said Bannister.

“Chuck has been a vital part of South Georgia Banking Company for quite some time now,” said Glenn Willis, SGBC President.  “We are fortunate to have someone of his ability and character on our team.  We’re really excited that he is willing to take the reigns and lead our Moultrie bank.”

Bannister and his wife Carol, a teacher in the Colquitt County School System, have two children, Laura Hill, a pharmacy student at the University of Georgia and Will, a Wharton Business School student at the University of Pennsylvania.
