Watermelon Capital Hosts Annual Festival
As the temperature rises in Cordele, so does our excitement about watermelons. Cordele, Georgia is recognized as the "watermelon capital of the world". The city and county hosted events throughout the month of June, ending with a parade, festival, and dance on the last Saturday of the month. In conjunction with the watermelon festival activities, the local state farmers market buzzed with people looking to purchase ripe, delicious melons from area farmers. It is an exciting time for Cordele each year, and South Georgia Banking Company is proud to be a supporter of an event that draws visitors from all over the state.
In celebration of the Watermelon Festival, employees wore the official watermelon t-shirts on Fridays throughout the festival. Pictured below are tellers Edwina Reed, Heather Barefoot, Jo Snyder, and Heather Pitts.
