Ashlea Pearman Selected as Fantastic 4-H'er
Ashlea Pearman, daughter of 4th Street branch manager Steve Pearman, recently received the Georgia 4-H's "Fantastic 4-H'er" award. Ashlea is an 11th grade Senior 4-Her at Tift County High School and has been an active member of her local 4-H club since the 5th grade. Her main 4-H projects include rabbits, scrap booking and resource management. Her 4-H highlights include Project Achievement, State Congress, the Lock-in Banquet, Pancake Supper, Project Fun Day, Cloverleaf Camp, and being a Certified Team Leader for Cloverleaf CPA.
"4-H has taught me things that will help me to make better decisions in the future as well as in my day-to-day life," said Ashlea.
She recalls her favorite 4-H memory as serving as teen leader at Cloverleaf Camp because the experience allowed her to develop relationships with the younger members and helped her make the decision to become a teacher.
"It is important for people to realize that 4-H is not just related to agriculture," said Ashlea. "There are a wide variety of activities and most importantly, the friends you meet through this organization are people you will carry in your heart all throughout life. It's like one big happy family!"
After high school graduation, Ashlea plans to attend college and obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.
The Fantastic 4-H'er program is presented by the Georgia 4-H to Junior and Senior 4-H'ers. Each week, one person is chosen from the applications submitted and featured on the homepage of www.georgia4h.org.
