Spreading the Holiday Cheer

This year, SGBC's Ashburn branch is spreading holiday cheer around Turner County. To kick off the Christmas season, we participated in the community Christmas parade We harnessed Brinson Brock's best Clydesdale, Bill, to a carriage decorated by the bank's employees. This drew much excitement as Bill is a local "celebrity" and popular guest at many area weddings, parades, school events and fund raisers.

As a thank you to the employees for being so good this year, the Ashburn branch hosted a Christmas luncheon at the home of Daisy Lee Speight, one of the bank's employees. She prepared a festive meal while our own Brinson Brock whipped up a tasty dessert.

"Daisy Lee has such a wonderful home and decorates it so beautifully for Christmas," said Brinson. "We are so grateful that she chose to open her home to us so our bank family could enjoy time together."

The employees weren't the only ones getting into the Christmas spirit. The branch's Primetimers Club for senior citizens sponsored a toy drive of their own. Since our lobby was selected as a drop off location, we decided to do a little something special. We restored an antique wooden sleigh to display the items the community brought in as a way to get our customers in the holiday mood as well as remind us that giving is what Christmas is all about.
