Chris McCard is now serving as City President in Ashburn. He has been responsible for commercial and agricultural lending as well as the management of the lending staff – both of which he felt prepared him to manage the entire bank staff and a growing customer base.
“We are very fortunate to have Chris heading up our team in Ashburn,” said Glenn Willis, President of SGBC. “His experience in other areas of bank management along with his involvement in the community, civic organizations and church make him a well-suited City President.”
Chris is originally from Ashburn and began his banking career in 1992 at Community National Bank where he served as Executive Vice President until the bank was purchased by SGBC in 2006.
He is a certified real estate appraiser, holds a degree in Business Administration from Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton and a degree in Business Management from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Additionally, he is a graduate of The Georgia Banking School at The University of Georgia.
But it’s not all banking and numbers with Chris. He’s also very involved in community and church, serving as deacon of 1st Baptist Church and as a board member for the Victoria Evans Memorial Library, the Southern Resource Development Agency and the Southern Georgia Area Development Corporation. He’s also a past chairman of the Turner County Chamber of Commerce and a past vice chairman of the Turner County Development Authority. As for free time – Chris likes to spend it with his wife and two children or outdoors either hunting or fishing.
As City President, Chris enjoys the daily interaction with the Ashburn community and being able to help them with all of their financial needs.[back to list]
