Moultrie Tech Turner County Graduate Gets Surprise from Grandson

Turner County High School student DeMarcus Bateman presented his grandmother with her diploma at MTC's graduation ceremony in June. Bateman is currently job shadowing with Moultrie Tech board of directors member Brinson Brock at South Georgia Bank in Ashburn and attended three MTC events during the graduation week with Brock as his mentor.

Crisp County

 

Cordele Inland Port Construction Underway

 

The Crisp County Cordele Industrial Development Authority (IDA) and Cordele Intermodal Services Inc. (CIS) have officially announced the completion of agreements between the Authority and CIS for construction and operation of the Cordele Inland Port.  The new port will be built in two phases, with construction of the first phase having begun on a 42 acre site owned by the IDA. An official groundbreaking took place on July 14th, and the first phase facility will be in operation by the fall of 2010 with a capacity of 20,000 lifts per year. With the completion of the second phase of operations CIS will have the capacity to handle 100,000 annual lifts. The Cordele Inland Port will provide direct container rail service to and from the Port of Savannah via Cordele.
