South Georgia Banking Company celebrates Georgia Peanut Bank Week by congratulating all Georgia Peanut Farmers for their outstanding peanut production.   Georgia leads the nation in peanut production and South Georgia Banking Company is proud to support the peanut industry and our local farmers.  In recognition of Georgia Peanut Bank Week (October 18-25), all SGBC locations will be giving away peanut snacks, displaying local artwork and serving refreshments for customers on Friday, October 24.  Print out this coloring page for the kids to color and return it to your local branch for them to display in the lobby.

SGBC Joins in the Suitcase for Kids Project

The Georgia State Patrol, Post 13, and many generous donors in the Tifton Judicial Circuit partner with Ruth’s Cottage and the Patticake House to help make a difference in a child’s life for Christmas. Over 400 children benefit from this effort.  Our Operations Department enjoys helping with the Suitcase for Kids project. The employees of the Omega branch of SGBC celebrated along with the community, the Omega Pepper Festival Sept 13 and 14.  The annual festival celebrates Omega’s agricultural heritage with a parade, arts and crafts, a fun run, music and delicious food.

 

 

 

SGBC Recognizes Lt. Col Jenkins for Long Time Service

South Georgia Banking Company presented Lt. Col Selwyn Jenkins, United States Air Force Reserve, with a gift of military history books in recognition of his recent award and long time service to our country and the Georgia State Patrol, Tift and Crisp posts.  On May 4, Jenkins was awarded a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the third-highest medal bestowed upon a member of the armed forces by the U.S. Department of Defense. He served in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and three tours in Iraq with 32 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

Reinhardt Named to South Georgia Banking Company Board of Directors

South Georgia Banking Company recently elected Bill Reinhardt to its Board of Directors. Bill, a Tift County native, received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1987 from the University of Georgia, followed by a Juris Doctor in 1990, also from UGA. After law school, he worked in private law practice at Reinhardt, Whitley, Summerlin & Pittman until 2006 when he was elected as one of two Superior Court judges for the Tifton Judicial Circuit, which includes Irwin, Tift, Turner and Worth counties. Currently, he serves as Chief Judge of the Superior Courts for the Tifton Judicial Circuit. Read more...

Chris McCard Named City President 

Chris McCard is now serving as City President in Ashburn. He has been responsible for commercial and agricultural lending as well as the management of the lending staff - both of which he felt prepared him to manage the entire bank staff and a growing customer base. Chris is originally from Ashburn and began his banking career in 1992 at Community National Bank where he served as Executive Vice President until the bank was purchased by SGBC in 2006. As City President, Chris enjoys the daily interaction with the Ashburn community and being able to help them with all their finanical needs. Read more...
