This savings account allows you to earn a higher rate of return on your money and have limited check writing privileges. The interest rate and annual percentage yield are posted in each banking location on the Rate Chart and are subject to change at the bank's discretion. This is an interest bearing account in which the interest rate is determined by the account balance and its corresponding tier formula. Interest begins to accrue no later than the business day we receive credit for the deposit of non-cash items. Interest will be compounded monthly and will be credited to the account monthly. You are allowed to make six (6) transfers and/or withdrawals from your account each statement period. Up to three (3) of these transfers may be made by check, draft, debit card or similar order made by you and payable to third parties. The minimum daily collected balance to avoid the $5.00 monthly maintenance fee is $2500.00. If the daily balance falls below $2500.00 the rate may drop below the normal Money Market rate.

For longer term investments with higher yields a South Georgia Banking Company Certificate of Deposit is your answer. Minimum deposit is $1000.00 and maturities range from 90 days to 3 years. Rates vary according to the terms selected, and you choose when interest is paid: monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually or at maturity. Certificates of Deposit are subject to a penalty for early withdrawal.
